જશોદા ! તારા કાનુડાને સાદ કરીને વાર;
આવડી ધૂમ મચાવે વ્રજમાં કોઈ નહિ પૂછણહાર;
jashodā !  tārā kānudā-ne sād kari-ne vār
āvadi dhum machāve vraj-māň ko-ii nahi puchhan-hār

શીકું તોડ્યું ગોરસ ઢોળ્યું, ઉઘાડીને બ્હાર;
માખણ ખાધું ઢોળી નાંખ્યું, જાન કીધું આ વાર ... ૧
shiku todyu goras Dholyu, ughādi-ne bahār
mākhan khādhu Dholi nāňkhyu, jāňn kidhuň ā vār ... 1

ખાંખાંખોળાં કરતાં હીંડે, બીએ નહીં લગાર;
મહીં મથવાની ગોળી ફોડી, આ શાં કહીએ લાડ ... ૨
khākhā-kholā karatā hiňde, bi-e nahiň lagār
mahiň mathavā-ni goli fodi, ā shāň kahi-e lād ... 2

વારે વારે કહું છું તમને હવે ન રાખું ભાર;
નિત ઊઠીને એ કયમ સહીએ, વસી નગર મોઝાર ... ૩
vāre vāre kahuň chhuň tam-ne have na rākhu bhār
nit uthi-ne e kayam sahi-e, vasi nagar mojhār ... 3

આડી-અવળી વાત તમારી, હું નહિ સાંભળનાર;
ડાહ્યો ડમરો લાડકો મારો, કદી ન એમ કરનાર ... ૪
āDi-avali vāt tamāri, huň nahi sambhal-nār
dahyo damaro lādako māro, kadi na em kar-nār ... 4

મારો કાનજી ઘરમાં સૂતો, ક્યારે દીઠો બ્હાર;
દહીં દૂધનાં માટ ભર્યાં છે, બીજે ચાખે ન લગાર ... ૫
māro kānaji ghar-māň suto, kyāre ditho bahār
dahiň dudh-nā māT bharyā chhe, bije chākhe na lagār ... 5

શાને કાજે મળીને આવી, ટોળી વળી દશ-બાર;
નરસૈંયાનો સ્વામી સાચો, જૂઠી વ્રજની નાર ... ૬
shāne kāje mali-ne āvi, toli vali dash-bār
nar-sai-yā-no svāmi sācho, juthi vraj-ni nār ... 6

English Translation:
0. Jashoda! Why don't you call and restrain your son, Kanuda;
In Vraj he creates so much nuisance, as if there is none to ask.

1. Opening doors, he broke sling to hang up things, spilled milk & curds;
He ate up butter and spilled out some, and made so much of a mess.

2. He goes on snooping around, and is never afraid of anyone;
He breaks mud-pots for churning buttermilk; can we call it fondling?

3. Time and again we complain, but henceforth, I won’t keep your respect;
While we live within this city, why should we bear this every day?

4. We are not going to listen to all your talks of beating around the bush;
Stop telling us, your dear docile son is wise, and plays no such pranks.

5. My son Kanji is asleep in home, where have you seen him out;
Pots full of milk and curds are in home, why should he taste elsewhere.

6. Why these ten-twelve ganged up women have come joined;
Lord of Narasaiyya is truthful, but women Vraj are all liars.
